The Silueta X Association has been honored with a High Recognition Award by the Dr. José Daniel Rodríguez Maridueña Hospital of Infectology in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The award was presented as part of the observance of World AIDS Response Day (December 1st), underscoring the organization’s essential work and sustained commitment to promoting public health and well-being in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The accolade highlights Silueta X’s crucial role in fostering a healthier, more inclusive, and equitable society. Mgs. Diane Rodríguez, representing Silueta X, received the distinction during the hospital’s ceremony and the lighting of the Red Ribbon, the universal symbol of the HIV struggle. The health institution specifically recognized Silueta X’s “articulated and significant work” for the health of its staff and for HIV/AIDS prevention.
Fifteen Years of Combined Prevention Leadership
Since 2010, the Silueta X Association has implemented a robust and effective Combined HIV Prevention program, establishing itself as a key reference not only in Ecuador but across the region.
Silueta X’s strategy focuses on addressing the specific needs of the most vulnerable populations through a holistic approach that integrates biomedical, behavioral, and structural interventions.
The organization’s work has profoundly impacted key populations by providing tailored health services and resources:
- Youth and Adolescents: Promoting comprehensive sexual education and access to prevention methods.

- Sex Workers: Fostering prevention and empowerment in professional environments.
- People Deprived of Liberty (PPL): Delivering prevention and healthcare access to contexts of high vulnerability.
This sustained effort has been critical in reducing new infections, combating HIV-associated stigma and discrimination, and ensuring that People Living with HIV (PLHIV) have access to quality care and live with dignity.
