Guayaquil, December 1, 2025 — The Silueta X Association, alongside the Federación ecuatoriana de Organizaciones LGBT+ and the National Trans Platform (CoaliTrans), informs the public and the media about the resounding success of the #TransProcession, the Decriminalization Fest, and the Grand Dollar Market, held last Saturday, November 29th, in Guayaquil. The event was a landmark moment of social and economic mobilization, seamlessly blending the demand for rights with a profound expression of faith and remembrance.
1. Faith as a Symbol of Inclusion and Hope
The Procession took on a deeply spiritual dimension by incorporating the figure of the Virgin of the Stigma. This image was carried by the community as a symbol of unconditional hope, acceptance, and faith in the face of exclusion and violence.
Focus on Faith and Tolerance: «The Virgin of the Stigma is a banner of our faith and a bridge for tolerance, demonstrating that spirituality and diversity can coexist. It was a manifestation of love and welcome, beyond any official canon or dogma.»
2. Remembrance and Justice: A National Demand
The route, which began at the Guayas Provincial Court, served as an act of living memory and political advocacy:
- Stop Impunity: The memory of hate crime victims was honored, with a firm call to the Attorney General’s Office and the justice system to guarantee due process and the punishment of the guilty parties.
- Identity and Civil Rights: The Trans community raised its voice against the bureaucratic roadblocks imposed by the Civil Registry, demanding the immediate compliance with the Gender Identity Law. The slogan was clear: «Our Identity and Our Lives Are Not a Debate.»
- Historical Homage: The anniversary of the Decriminalization of Homosexuality in 1997 was celebrated, reaffirming this milestone as the foundation of the current struggle for substantive equality.
3. The Dollar Market: Sustainable Economic Inclusion
The closing ceremony outside Silueta X headquarters transformed into the Grand Dollar Market, a successful space for productive development:
- Focus on Priority Groups: The market directly promoted LGBTIQ+ entrepreneurs, women heads of household, people with disabilities, and the migrant population, all of whom generated significant income.
- Message to Public Entities: The market underscored the need for technical and financial support from key ministries—such as Production, Economic Inclusion, and Labor—to combat job exclusion.
4. Institutional Support and Outreach
The event drew a wide turnout from civil society and received valuable support from delegations representing several State institutions, including the Ministry of Government, the Ministry of Public Health, the CNIG (National Council for Gender Equality), and the CPCCS (Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control), all of whom ratified their political and institutional commitment to the rights of this population.
