Guayaquil, Ecuador – The Silueta X Association is sharing the overwhelming success of its “ExpresArte con Orgullo” (Express Yourself with Pride) event, held on June 12. The event, designed as a creative space for artistic expression and reflection on diversity, inclusion, and respect for the LGBTQ+ community, exceeded all expectations thanks to active participation and a focus on essential mental health support.
Art, Advocacy, and Academic Collaboration
The gathering featured various activities, notably a poster-making dynamic where attendees translated their ideas and emotions into visual art. This creative process fostered open and enriching dialogue on the event’s central themes.
A special acknowledgement was extended to the Psychology students from the Technical University of Babahoyo. Their valuable collaboration provided attendees with essential tools for understanding discrimination’s impact on mental health and underscored the importance of professional intervention to counteract the risks of suicidal ideation within the community.
Silueta X also expressed its sincere gratitude to the Center of Art and Culture for hosting the activity, providing a fundamental environment for artistic expression and reflection.
Artworks Headed to Guayaquil Pride
A significant outcome of the “ExpresArte con Orgullo” dynamic is that the posters created by participants will be featured during Guayaquil Pride 2024. These artworks represent the voice and sentiment of the LGBTQ+ community, serving as a powerful, public reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality and justice.
” ‘ExpresArte con Orgullo’ was not only a memorable event but also a step forward in building a future that is more inclusive and respectful of diversity,” stated a representative from Silueta X. “Together, we are building a more inclusive future!”
The Association thanked all participants, collaborators, and organizers for their commitment to the cause.
