To the LGBTQ+ community and allies: We need to make an urgent clarification. Quito Pride 2025, scheduled for June 21 at 10:00 AM, departing from Plaza Las Artigas and culminating at Parque Itchimbia with a FREE Pride Fest from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, is NOT related to the commercial event announced for June 28 in Quito.
The Confusion: Two Dates, Two Events
There is widespread confusion in the community about two different Pride events in Quito:
- Quito Pride 2025 — June 21 — FREE, community-driven, non-profit (this event)
- June 28 event — Commercial concert featuring LocoMia (reported ~$40 entrance fee), promoted by Orgullofff, Ticket Show, and Monies Music Group
These are completely separate events with different organizers, values, and costs. Quito Pride 2025 has no affiliation whatsoever with the June 28 commercial activities.
What Quito Pride 2025 Stands For
- FREE entry — Always, no exceptions
- Community-owned — Organized by coalition of Quito LGBTQ+ organizations
- Non-profit — No commercial sponsors pushing tickets
- Intersectional — Culturally rooted, politically conscious, inclusive
- Transformation of space — Parque Itchimbia, historically elite space, becomes a place of social justice
